Poster for Pippin
A travelling group of players tell us the tongue-in-cheek story of Pippin, son of the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne, who is on a quest to find his true calling in life. He attempts to be a soldier… and fails. He attempts to be a lover… and fails. He attempts to overthrow his father and become the new Holy Roman Emperor… and fails. Finally, he tries settling down with a decent woman and her son. Pippin, however, believes that he is extraordinary and meant for extraordinary things. How will Pippin reconcile his now ordinary life with his need to be extraordinary? Nominated for eleven Tony awards, Pippin took home five during its nearly 2000 performances on Broadway.
